Default Prefer the Sound of the Engine to Radio

I prefer the sound of my engine when I am driving. I can always tell how the car is running and it is a comforting feeling to hear the car run Great.

So I am curious, how many others would rather listen to their cars engine then the Stereo?

When I was younger a friend got me to listen to the engine instead of a Stereo while driving, shortly after that I went to my first F1 Race, after that I couldn't listen to the radio because I preferred the sound of my engine.

I had an old NSX that I did this for like a week or so after every mod I did, since the engine is literally right behind your ear.

On every car I've had that is of course modded I go through the same thing, and will do with the P-Car soon enough..

Sooner or later though blasting your favorite music is just as satisfying!

The Porsche is cool with the sound it makes. Some times I don't listen to music for many reasons. I never listen to music on the GSX-R1000.

Engine. (Although I'll occasionally listen to an audiobook on a trip.)

I listen to the radio much less in the 911 than I have in other cars. I prefer the engine sound, but I occasionally listen to the radio or talk radio when I drive to work i the morning.

Yeah, if I'm driving to or from work I'll listen to the radio, but it's low enough where I can still hear the engine over it clearly. Long drives with the wife I'll blast the radio, but any time it's me and the car just driving around the radio stays off.

+1 engine !!!

Especially after getting high-flow headers, 200 cell cats and sports mufflers!
Surprisingly enough a high-flow cold air intake filter changes the sound significantly as well.

+1 on the engine... especially on weekend joyrides.

When I first got the car it was always engine only. Now since I'm used to the sound of the PSE I do play the radio more often. Plus in the winter you have to keep your windows up so it muffles some of the best sounds.

Come summertime though in some cases when I have the top down I'll only be listening the exhaust.

I waited 28 years to drive this car, that entire time I did listen to all those songs..... I figure I can hear the songs anytime, but this motor is something I may not always have around (depending on the economy) So enjoy every second of it I can....

That said I do listen about 10-20% of the time

+1 Engine - that's why they put such a crummy radio in the car - they put the money in all the right places (except the IMS)!

engine, hands down. i put in the ipod cable on my factory head unit last summer, but i haven't used it in months. i'll listen to NPR (especially science friday) or something occasionally, but most of the time it's just me and the sweet sounds of the flat six.
