Just washing and drying your car can cause swirl marks.

Just washing and drying your car can produce swirl marks. Porsche paint is soft.

That's a seriously good job... Looks great!
Good washing technique and maintaining a good coat of wax/sealant goes a long way to keeping the paint job looking good...

Well, when i bought my car it looked good (no swirls) until the dealers "best" detailer touched it and it was sooo swirled i alot didnt want to buy the car. Being a detailer in the past i knew you can get them out. I actually bought the "black box" from the auto store by turtle wax. It was a 3 step system and it did a very good job. But after a couple washes it was back to looking crappy. UGH.. Its a never ending battle between the dust that collects on it and the rain and swirls...

my black 996's should have been advertised "swirl marks over black" instead of "black on black". Its amazing what a good detail job can do. I always foam gun and pressure wash on a wide arc and its held up ok for the past yr but I think Im done with black after this one its stays dust/pollen free for a max of 3 hours after a wash.

Years ago a had a concours condition '64 E-Type Jag coupe in black. after a thourough wash and dry it looked amazing for about an hour or less. In '97 I bought a new F150 Flairside PU 4x4 in black, that too with the aero new body style looked awsome. I noticed when I got home from the dealership, less than 15 miles later, my new truck which looked fantastic less than 30 minutes ago, needed a wash and detail.

I too, am done with black.

I live near a lot of trees and in the summer washing and drying if I was really quick - I could get it into the garage before it needed washing again.

I love black though - might try one again someday but I will be very very picky about the paint condition prior to me buying it and will clear bra for sure!

i definitely didn't know that, i usually just have to wipe it off, i don't drive it in the rain, i've used alot of the spray on waxes & detailers, guess i been lucky so far, but it's hard to say i won't ever buy another black car, but you said the porsche black paint is a soft paint, what does that mean & whats the do's & don't to do to your paint?

i don't think i've ever used soap on my car, so that may be one reason it hasn't had the swirls, but i was lookin to buy the porter cable 7424 xp, but i guess if i didn't use it correctly that could definitely screw up the paint job, you see alot of how to's on youtube, but alot of that crap doesn't work like they say it does either.
