I just bought this car, 1999 996C2, in February this year, 51K miles, 20K bucks. My last Porsche was in 1979, the children came, college, and some of you know that story. I Spent about 6 K more getting all the fluids changed, a new Key from the Dealer, ouch, the steering rack was leaking a bit and replaced, and the Air Bag Indicator light came on right away, which readers of this forum know to be the seat belt receptacle and attending electrical harness, filters and that sort of stuff. The car has been a dream since, with not a problem. A few months ago my Granddaughter and I went to Washington state, which has curvy roads unlike Kansas, to see the family. Car performed flawlessly. And boy oh boy do these cars handle!
There is one exciting thing I have done with the car, once, which I have not yet read in this forum. While in Washington, and planning to replace the tires anyway on my return to Kansas, I found an empty parking lot, turned off the Traction Control, and smoke up the country side doing spin outs, slides, a bit of drifting and all out spin outs, tires smoking, the engine screaming right at the top range, and seriously, you could have swept up tire crumbs when I went back to look. I will probably never do something like that again, I felt the need to feel the car spin out to get in touch with the limits of traction.

BTW - Avatar pics don't count toward fulfilling the requirement for Newbies to post pics! So consider this next sentence as your "Newbie Initiation!"
