Me too. With the design more than a decade old, now, and Porsche having moved on in terms of styling, you can finally appraise the 996 design on its own merits. When I see one that's plain and unmodified, I'm struck by what a thoughtful evolution the 996 body was. It's its own thing, rather than being a cartoon of the original, but Lai showed a lot of respect for where the car came from. I'm a long way from sick of looking at mine.

I love my 996 interior. The 997 fit and finish is much improved, but the shapes, curves, and cockpit feel of the 996 dash feels much more at home with the classic 911 exterior lines.

I agree!

And when I said the 996 interior was more 993-like compared to the 997, I meant the fact that the 996 interior is more mono-tone, more all-business, and more upgraded classic compared to the 997.
