Are you going to do the work by yourself?

Sure, sure. But think of all the moral support they will provide!

In all seriousness, good luck moving forward on the project. Will you start a new thread, or, is this now the official IMS bearing change thread????

Should someone make this a sticky?

I've got a thread going but the title is obscure, I'll change it to make it more understandable.

LNEng IMS upgrade, GO FOR IT ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Back on the road, everything went great, no leftover parts, every bolt torque to spec. Thanks to this forum started by Kyle, my Porsche Boxster Service Manual and 996 Workshop Manual I can say the upgrade was a total success.

Some of the torque settings differed between manuals (flywheel +120 deg for Boxster vs. +90deg for 996).

Goo Gone works great on engine too, I see no problem getting it on the rubber hose, and it should clean them off too. I sprayed it on the oil pan and waited an hour and wiped off with a paper towel.

So did you guys just leave off that little o-ring that goes under the central 12-point nut? Thanks!

Nice job. And no extra parts.

From pis I have seen the double row has more parts than the single, could that be the difference, look on LNE webite and compare the two in the picture

The kit comes out of the box with one black o-ring under the black 12-point nut that screws onto the center shaft. Instructions make no note of using the o-ring (but then again, they don't say to use the c-clip either) - if the o-ring is used under the black 12-point nut it will get squished (I believe Ed said the same thing) so it's not even under the nut any longer.
