it has to go is straight to the engine, check the gap at top and bottom... they have to be equal - rotate the tranny and wiggle in and out... the splines on the shaft may not be lined up with the clutch.. of you rotate them... they should align....

IIRC we put the tranny in gear and turned the output (axle) on both sides the same dirrection (they want to tunr opposite each other which doesnt turn the trans input shft... you have to wiggle a little to remove tenssion on the input shaft so it can turn....

AND the tranny has to be sucked up with the bolts... It does not "snap" into place and mate up to tha back of the motor.... I was really fearing we were doing it wrong, but it worked OK and I have confirmed this with other people....as long as the shaft and clutch disc are meshed

I am in the home stretch.

A note on the clutch slave.

If you are using a trans jack. I >think< you have enough room on the line to drop the tranny a bit before you pull the slave. Same thing with installation. The CS was the biggest bitch of the job and the most tiring.

My hands hurt, My Shoulders hurt my for arms hurt. And I am TIRED..

Left to do
Oil
rear axils
airfilter
crank it up.
If ok
belly pans
drop it

I envy how good you're going to feel once you're all done - I'm using this thread to motivate me to tackle my water pump & AOS replacements.

Great job!

I guess all that myths that this job can't be done and the bearing can't be extracted are busted again.. Make sure you drive over and see that master tech over at Porsche. Take the extracted dual row bearing with you and make him eat a little "crow".. You performed like a pro in adverse conditions and I LOVE to see that!
