Default OT: mechanic crashes boxster during test drive.

not good. also there's so much weirdness in that article. boxster serviced at a shell station, owner still willing to service vehicles there. mechanic "test" driving at 6AM, hiding in a parking lot after the crash.

163 MPH?! and the mechanic runs away and hides.

too weird.

The car looks fairly intact for a crash at that speed

there is an old Chevron in my area (real close to where Bill Gates lives) and every time I drive by I see exotics being serviced... some places have a good rep for that....

and I am guessing the guys/gals who take there car there would be happy to find out the owner was not injured as they understand a car (esp a Boxster) can be replaced....

Not saying they might not be a little upset that it happened and question why he was going so fast, but the bottom line for something like this is "if money can fix the problem, then there isnt really a problem...."

testiment to the P-car construction... glad the service guy was willing to give it the full monty test drive

What? I thought Boxsters couldn't be crashed, what with their perfect mid-engine balance and all?

Yes in LA there are actually quite a few Shells and Chevrons that service higher end cars in the nice areas.

BTW Porsche posted top speed at 162... so obviously the microsecond it hit 163 the car was out of spec and all hell broke loose. Never push beyond the cars engineer limits

"Kantor said Kasten told him he was speeding because he was upset, but Kantor didn't specify why Kasten was upset."

The rest of the story............

"Later it was learned that he was out trying to pick up chics. When he learned his ugly *** required a 911 to do so he got really up set"

No you have it confused with the perfect balance of a 928

reminds me of my past car. Dealer tech crashed my fairly new car north of 120 mph out running errands.

here's a view from the news chopper.

That guy is lucky, the mangroves reduced the damage. Had he hit a tree or pole I doubt he could have been able to run off to hide in a parking lot.

What? Did he learn that driving fast because of watching TV or what? Where do people get the idea of driving fast when they are upset? Likely excuse being mad. I would more believe he just blew it driving the car.

Hey, since yesterday was "THE DAY" for not making fun of you, I needed to get back in form in a big way!
