GT3 brake duct spoilers - worth it?
These are $60 for the pair at Suncoast. Do they really channel more air to the front rotors for DE events and keep the rotors cooler?

If you REALLY want extra cooling, the $250/pair cup ducts are the way to go! Oddly, I have never looked to see what brake cooling it has but I could compare them to my stock GT3 ducts that I took off to put on the Cup ones if you like.
It also depends on what "level" of driver you are when it comes to braking. As well, the type of track you are running.

Look for the 997 GT3 ducts. There's a couple of threads floating around with part numbers in them. They were < $20 for the pair when I got them. They're not really much inprovement over stock but are a touch better none the less.
As Dell stated, the cup ducts are the way to go for serious track use. They hang pretty low to run on the street though.

Andy is 100% correct on the clearance of the ducts. IIRC, the distance I had to the ground from the bottom of my ducts was 2 inches. Granted that was on a lowered track prepped GT3. Still, my guess would be about 3" of clearance on a street car.

AFAIK, brake ducts rely partly on venturi effect to do their job. In other words, it's not just the volume of air but how fast that air is moving that cools the brakes, and the cooling duct is like a funnel to manage that speed. GT3 ducts are bigger because the assumption is track speeds rather than highway speeds.
When I replace mine (as is necessary from time to time around here), I stick with the OE size.
EDIT... because a duct that's too big for the job is almost as bad as no duct. Sorry for the edit. Just wanted to be clear.

$11.41/each at the dealer for mine. i added with oem sport pads, braided lines, and ate fluid. all mods combined seemed to make a difference on the track, but hard to say how much exactly as it was about 6 mo. between track days.

The 996 in all versions has inadequate brake cooling for track and that includes the 996 GT3. The Cup brake ducts help quite a bit, I prolonged the life of my front rotors on my 996GT3 by using the cup ducts in front and using more aggressive pads in the rear. Pagid RS 29 yellow in front and RS-14 black in the rear. This also improves the poor brake balance of the 996 series which had too much braking in front and not enough in the rear. A stock GT3 with OEM or the same pads front and rear, used on the track, would wear out its front rotors (death by cracks) in ten days or less. The rear rotors looked like they had never been used. With the RS-14s in back and the Cup ducts my rotors lasted 30 days. YMMV of course.

Cup/RSR ducts are a lot better. They are bigger and scoop a lot more air. They also occasionally scrape as they hang lower. For the rear, go with a set of 996 GT2 brake ducts.

Your signature says "Maverick PCA instructor".
Are you actually one? I could have sworn you were an instructor CANDIDATE who had not yet become an instructor, but I could be wrong.
EDIT: thanks for the correction
