I had my mechanic (Monaco Motors in Canoga Park) look at the car and check the fault codes, etc. They said there was no problem with the coil packs. Their diagnosis was that the clamps were loose on the K&N air intake and that was causing a compression loss ....
HOWEVER, it rained a couple of days ago and the car did the same damn thing again ....

So I'm going to take it back in. Stay tuned. Maybe I should just replace the coil packs whether they look faulty or not?

I mean maybe if there is a BIG "leak" at the throttle body upstream of the MAF, that could make the MAF signal not jive with the amount of air that's actually getting into the engine. But still, I that would have to be a pretty big leak.
I say go back to the coil packs; lots of wet-weather problems can be attributed to them.

if it rains and the car misfire, sputters; the coils are bad. Unless he remove and inspect each coil, he won't be able to tell if they are bad or not. We are talking about hairline cracks.

Hapefully if he is a ghost writer and inherently good at reading persons he didn't evaluate the shops mechanic talking to him about whats wrong with his car and procede to write him out of the script. Wouldn't blame him though

You guys are getting so predictable. How come nobody went for sunroof seals?? Mechanic told him sunroof seals were worn causing vacuum loss and it only happens when it rains because well... nevermind![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Who was it that blew the engine because of water getting into the intake through the brake booster due to clogged drains. I think that was a MKI. Is that more of a MKI problem or equal with MKII? What year is the OPs car?
#10 for cracked coil packs
