I just ordered the retrofit kit for mine: 000.043.300.46

So far my top experience has been:

Top: $250
Paint Job: $450
Retrofit Kit: $350

But it looks awesome with the hardtop on! I think you'll be please with the outcome!

It looks great! I don't know if you get snow there but since my car has become my everyday ride here in NJ I am really enjoying the hardtop. It changes the character of the car, It's a little quieter and has more head room, then with the cloth top.

Na, it's been in the garage. When they painted the top they cleaned the hell out of it so I haven't wanted to sully it in this crap weather.

Bobby,

That is sweet looking. I can't wait to get my top installed. The receivers are coming Friday. But tomorrow I'm going to start taking the bayonette receivers off the car.

Thanks! I can't wait for spring to get here though! Hardtop or not, winter sucks!

Also, I discovered that my parts, if ordered seperately, would have been circa $750. Ordered at the kit 000.043.300.46 was only $350.

Very easy job, if you need help let me know, I did it a month ago.

As I am about to do the same operation, I would be keenly interested. Specifically, I would be interested in any pitfalls or challenges to avoid.

Was there any adjustment needed, or do you just follow the diagram and screw the stuff in?

Bobby,

Here's a good instruction on Renntech.

Ok,

I removed the receivers. Really a painless job. There are 3 screws that holds the top cover. In order to get to the middle screw, you need to remove the 4 plastic fasteners that holds the carpet covered panel which is not described on the Renntech article.

Then there are 4 screws (10mm) that holds the receiver in place. I went ahead and detached the electrical supply (rear defroster I presume) from the receiver instead unplugging it from the car. It's hard to get your hand in deep enough to remove the plug. I plan to reuse the power plug.

Awesome hookup on the instructions! Very appreciated.

Now, my question is one of adjustment. When I replace the pins on the hardtop, how do I adjust it? It looks like you can slide it forward and back about 1 centimeter and up and down about 2 cm.

What is the proper gap for the front? Just enough to make the seal bulge a little?

What about ride height? What should the gap between top and clamshell be?

I too just purchased a hardtop from a fellow lister (thank you Greg) and soon it will be on it's way to Texas. Tomorrow I'll order the same retro H/W Kit so any additonal pics/install insights are greatly appreciated. BTW while I'll have hr open install the new h/w I'll also be dropping in the "smartop" mod option I also purchased.

BTW Here in Texas we got 12" of snow last Thursday! Never thought I would have to shovel snow in Texas!! ;-)
