14 1997 996's went to Brazil for some reason and on record, they were the first off the line and sold other then pre-production / test units. All other 996's have 98 and up VIN numbers.

Hi all thanks for the replies
firstly yea they did start on 1997 here in the UK
secondly i have the washer container topped right up so dont think its that, as for my drawing my hands were busy typing so I got my pet terrier to draw that quality piccy!!
So after all that I am none the wiser, the symbol is right next to the airbag symbol if that helps

As you described it and illustrated it, that's exactly what the owner's manual says it is - low washer fluid.

Then I would guess it is a bad sensor which is triggering the light.

I had a T-fitting on the washer line crack and pop loose; all my washer fluid was just spraying under the hood instead of cleaning my windows. I can't recall if it gave that indication or not, but boy was my battery clean!

Fault lamp now out!!
I was a dodgy connection on the sensor for washer fluid, cheers for your input folks
