Jreid is right if not to badly scratched you can just sand and use SEM filler primer if needed then repaint or use the bondo if deep scratches just remember to clean surface real good. No matter how careful I am I still catch the lip on mine. GL

You need to have the front areo kit for that to be installed on a Mk1 correct?

Correct, technically

You can still add any of those lips with the proper modification to allow the plastic rivets to line up.

Now would the splitter be actually useful? My thoughts were that the aero kit lowered the height of the front and if putting a splitter on the front on a "regular front", the splitter would be at an angle. Or does the modification take care of that? I would be worried that it would look odd.

And this makes me want something else to buy if it does work. I'd love to see if anyone had a photo of this mod.

Never said it would look good. Just said it can be fitted.

The only way to truly to get it work optimally is get the larger aero bumper, drop the ride height, attach the splitter, and then you can reduce lift in the front.

I am running the MkII splitter on my MkI aero front. It looks WAAAAAAAAAAy better than that crappy $65 lip.

From the side profile it is fine IMHO. It's the front that I think is a fail. I prefer the smooth lines of the MkI aero with the smooth rounded lights and the MkII aero with the 02+ cars that have the sharp line headlinghts. Just my $.02

Thanks for all the info, everyone. The scratches aren't too deep on mine, so I might try the bondo route first. If it looks like crap, then I'll just buy it.

This initiative started b/c a piece of slate roofing (or something that looked like slate) flew off a truck on the highway and was flipping end-over-end just as my spoiler arrived. No significant damage - just a slightly marred clear bra, and a much more scratched splitter.

Thanks again!
Bob
