Talking Huge props to Darin at FisterD for Sport Exhaust

Over the Xmas break, the gf and I took the newly acquired 99' C2 down to SoCal to visit family and friends. Before we left, my awesome gf gave me the news that my bday present will be a set of Sport Mufflers from FisterD!!! She even worked with Darin to set up a time for us to stop by their shop to get it installed during the brief stop we had planned in N.Ca.

So we got it installed this past Weds morning. Quite honestly, I didn't know what to expect, some of the clip of his exhaust sounded quite loud, and I was actually enjoying the quietness of this ride (and I know what loud is since my Datsun have gone through multiple exhausts through the years) and concerned about possible drone.. But many on the forums have raved reviews that his mufflers do not drone. And after his install and driving it for another 1k miles back home, I can't agree more. His modifications are absolutely fantastic addition to any 996, the sound is phenomenal. When I arrived at his shop, I was also hoping he could give me some advice on a wider tip that fits the opening better (my gf mentioned that the stock tips looks like turtle heads - the gross kind). And low and behold, he had a set of the wider factory tips available at an awesome price! I couldn't have asked for more, so he and his buddy Mark proceeded to install the muffler (which btw, he diligently clean and polished up for me as this was special gift)! I was so very very stoked!! These guys even went the extra mile to modify and align the exhaust tips which was not an easy task as these tips weren't originally made for these bumper cut outs. On the way out, he even gave my gf and I some cool shirts, we were both very happy, and I left with a big grin on my face!!

Verdict: 2 thumbs up, way up, for Darin's shop and his product and excellent customer service! Definitely delivered as promised, sport exhaust sounds without any drone. We drove another 1k miles home and there were no difference in sound while cruising compared to the previous 2.5k miles through the trip.

Here are some photos during the install (Mark on left and Darin on right) and the finished product (the tips actually looks better in person than photo).

Thanks again to Darin, Mark and my awesome GF of-course!

I hope the ride beside my car was influential in your decision

Told ya, dead quiet inside

When are we going to do a little driving so I can be blown away by the new sound and most likely faster new car

Those guys are great, I can't see the pics yet (computer is down) but I will look soon

Welcome home, glad the car made the trip (based on the early post where you were concerned)

I just got his(FisterD exhaust mod) shipment today from FedEx...if it stops snowing I'll try to do the install tomorrow. Sure wish I had a lift at my disposal. I talked with Darin on the phone a couple of times, and you're right, he really does do seem to care about his product and his customers.

I have swapped mufflers about 6 times, no lift needed, just get the butt up high... But watch the nose that you don't hit the ground up front.

The swap should be under an hour (if no nuts/bolts are stuck)

GL with the install, we are all routing for you

Marc, after you get the mufflers, how long are they going to set in your garage before you install them?

I'm not sure if it is just my imagination but the Fister-D mufflers seem to have gotten a little louder since I installed them 3 weeks ago. They sound a bit deeper too. Maybe it's the cold temps in the teens? Anyway, there is still no drone and they're pretty quiet cruising around 75mph on the freeway. They're great!

Oh yea, photo of awesome gf should be in order too.. this is the best I have with her and car together..

Ed, thanks for the welcome back, the car was awesome, 3500 continuous miles over the week, everyday the car went somewhere.. It drove exceptionally nice, I liked it better than my e46 330 convertible (which I have made same trip in past). Not bad for a 10 yrs old car, ppl still complements on how good it looks, and many ask what MY it is. What an experience to own a P-car! Truly amazing!

As for the tires, them slicks were pretty wide, would need flairs to fit them!! and the chickens, there were actually quite a few of them (2 roosters too). Darin's shop is located on his ranch where he produces some/most of his own food. Quite interesting!

I installed the MKII exhaust tips on my MKI but took them off. I thought they stuck out a little to far due to the different bumper on the MKII. They do look much better that the originals.

Sounds good! Can you record the sound and post it on you tube for us to enjoy?
May I ask how much does it cost for parts and labor?
In addition, how can I tell if my exhaust system are original? My Porsche car is 00 C2 Cab.

Thanks.

If it sounds anemic, it's OEM.

In all seriousness, look at the cans, if they're aftermarket they'll usually have the company's logo on it somewhere visible.
