Default Sirius

What is the best way to implement Sirius in the 996? I have a 40th Anniversary with Navi.

I do not want to use FM Modulation as I am concerned about quality of sound.

I have an iPhone and heard that there is a new setup where you can use your iPhone to control stations.

Ideas?

If you have an iPhone then you can use the Sirius/XM iPhone App to stream music (using you data plan). I don't know how well that will work though on a moving car since AT&T's 3G is already pretty spotty as it is.

I would prefer to have a hard wired installation. I know the Denison unit works for iPod, what about Sirius/XM?

Anyone have ideas?

Use the Dension with the iPhone app or I am pretty sure the Dension has a line in that you could hook a Satellite receiver into but you would not be able to control it through the factory radio.

I went with an aftermarket Double Din Nav w/XM but I can understand you wanting to keep it stock.

The Sirius/XM app works great on my Blackberry but you would be dependent on the Cell network.

There are 2 apps. One is an "add-on" streaming package that you need 3G for. The other is an app called SkyDock and is for XM not Sirius. I have it. And it does NOT run on 3G, WiFi, etc.. It runs off satellite.

I have the SkyDock XM unit. It's great! There is an app that goes with it and turns your phone into a XM tuner. It is a hardwired solution. I have it running through my Dension unit on the RCA input.

The other great thing about SkyDock is that it is NOT set to a specific iPhone...your subscription is stored in the dock so you can move the dock from car to car and if you have another iphone you can also use. For example, my wife has the app on her phone as well and can use my skydock in her car with her phone!

If you have an aux input into the stock radio you can do what I did. Works great and looks stock.

This looks great. How do I know if the AUX input is avail?

I do have the 6 disc CD changer. Would I have to lose that functionality?

Currently my car has the CD holder/organizer on the top and A/C controls on the bottom. Removing the top one would be great.

If you have the CDR-220 (stock on older 996's) you can get an adapter from Becker which gives you an rca input on the back of the unit. You can plug in whatever you want, XM/Sirius, Ipod, etc. and use the AUX function. I do think that you lose the 6 CD changer when you do that, mine didn't have it.
