What's a reasonable price?

I don't think it's reasonable to expect a 996 that doesn't need serious work for under $15k at any miles. I've been looking at the market (nationally) for over a year... I'd say $17-18k is the low side, and most of those cars will need some things. The car in question will probably sell for the low $22-23k range. I sold my mechanically solid 9x,xxx mile 1999 car for $22.5k, with some extras a couple of months ago.

I actually sold it twice at that price. The first buyer had to back out due to a family emergency.
I think condition of the car, ownership records, and maintenance records are a large factor in what a car will sell for.
I had one guy call me a couple of weeks after the first buyer backed out, telling me what the Kelley blue book appraisals were and all that, and that his research indicated my car should sell in the low 20's. I told him I had already had the car sold at my asking price, so I thought it was priced fairly and left it at that.
He called me back two days later. I had sold the car the day before, at my asking price.
Sure was a damn good car.
I think condition of the car, ownership records, and maintenance records are a large factor in what a car will sell for.

Sadly for 996 sellers, August prices are not December prices. My car's asking price dropped $3k in the month of November - before I began negotiating the final price.

Anyway, there are a lot of factors that enter into what a specific car sells for in addition to the ones I listed above. For example, some sellers are motivated to sell quickly, some aren't.
I also had to lower my price to get my car sold. I lowered it a couple of times, and at $25.9k it sold. Twice.
Just because a 996 sells on Ebay for $18k doesn't mean that every 996 is only worth $18k.

Anyone trying to sell a Porsche in the Winter is a strongly motivated seller.
But it's silly trying to put a price on most Porsches based solely on a Craigslist ad. Clutch, RMS, brakes and tires? Oops, your $17k bargain is now $22k. Higher mileage? Then add another couple of $k for suspension.
Nothing is more expensive than a deferred-maintenance Porsche "bargain".

Having good service/maintenance records and better receipts for the "little things" shows the car received TLC while in your possession and this goes a long way towards giving the prospective buyer the warm fuzzies for the car.

I wish I could find a reasonable buyer for my 99 ..... 34k miles perfect condition, all books and records car with lots of upgrades and stock parts.....I am close to pulling the trigger on a 997 GT3
