Default BBS LM 10x18 ET42 for 02 996 ?

I have made my move from Australia to the UK and picked up a 2002 996. The wheels could be improved and I am looking at a set of BBS wheels but the rear offset of the wheels I am looking at is 42mm and from the searching I have been doing it seems that 50mm would be about the smallest offset for a 10" wheel. The supplier is advertising that the wheels suit 996s but I have my doubts. However since I am new to 996's I thought I would check for others experiences. Will this combination work?

Cheers.

10" rear with a 42 offset will fit perfectly fine on 295 tires. I current run this offset on a 10" rim.

The shop selling the wheels appears to be a well established physical store retailer so I called them about the wheels. They claim to fit this wheel package to numerous 996s and claim to deal with a variety of porsches. They have said they will get me some pics. Based on springgeysers comments I asked them what tyre width/profile the shop fits with these wheels.

Thanks for that point of fact springgeyser.

Cheers

I'm with Pete. I don't think they'll fit. If I'm not mistaken the factory wheels are 10" with a 67 offset. An offset of 42 will push them out approx. one inch. The factory wheels are a bit tucked. Sounds like it would be really close and if you lowered the car there would probably be rubbing issues.

I agree, that offset is too agressive. IMO, a 10" wheels with 52 to 55 offset is about the max you can go without having potential rubbing issues.
