thanks guys for the replies!!!!!! your opinions really help me greatly regarding my concern

a porsche 996 with higher mileage sure is one of my main concerns, but that car with some nice upgrades excites me also

Make sure specify in the PPI to look at everything - check all fluid levels, test coolant, compression and leakdown etc. Just got my C4 and the dealer that did the PPI missed the fact that the front differential was way low on fluid. Good thing that my first order of business was to change all the fluids.

the top light seems to be the trunk lid/engine compartmnt lid open light.

there is a thread titled "post your high milage cars" on Renntech. Seems some of these go more than 3400 mile before going Kaboom........
