Default Picked up my fixed up car yesterday

aside from having a minor heart attack at the bill, she's good as new. That port/polish of the head and the manifold sure makes her pull hard until 7K rpms

Onto the specifics. Here are the parts used. I had them change out any hoses/gaskets, etc that remotely were difficult to get to. New AOS just in case, new water pump, new X51 oil pan, chain guides, the IMS retrofit etc, etc.

Here is the IMS bearing that came out of the car. Looks brand new. 90K miles.

Remove and replace engine, heads and water pump
Match port heads
Resurface heads, replace all the valves and guide seals
Replace all the Valve Seats

All Intake and Exhaust valves (24)
2 Head Gaskets
2 O-Rings (1)
6 O-Rings (2)
6 Other gaskets
8 'Lids'
2 Rails (chain guides)
6 O-Rings (3)
2 O-Rings (4 - you guessed it. A lot of o-rings)
1 Oil Filler Tube (mechanic noticed the base was leaking. This part is plastic)
1 Vent Line
1 AOS (Air Oil Separator)
1 Water Pump
1 Water Pump Gasket
2 Intake gaskets
6 Other Intake Gaskets
2 Exhaust Manifolds gaskets
2 Exhaust gaskets
1 X-51 Oil Pan (deeper w/ baffles)
1 Oil Filter
2 Hoses (coolant hoses that were replaced and are a bitch to get to)
1 Outlet flange
9 quarts of oil
2 gallons of coolant
6 spark plugs
1 Intermediate Shaft Bearing (aftermarket+tool)
All accessory and serpentine belts

Must drive like a new car, awesome! You'll have that baby forever.
That's good to hear about the stock IMS bearing. Half the folks will say "I told you so", and the other half will say "wow, you're so lucky to have had one of the good ones". Lol!

It might be bad form to ask, but if you can do it without passing out, may I ask how much the whole bill was? I'm almost afraid to.

"That ...polish of the head and the manifold sure makes her pull hard"

Tell her to be more gentle next time

the total cost, including tax for everything came out to be $9400. This is a much 'better deal' than the 17K I had been mentally preparing the moment I heard the sound. But remember, about 3K of the cost is the head port and polish, and to resurface the head etc.

The 996 motor's other weak point is the valve seats.

Painful, but all things considered.. not bad at all!

Yup, I'd agree, not too bad. Hard pill to swallow, but still. You've got a completely new top end (side end??)

I took the seals off. There's no noticeable signs of wear. And there was no play either.
