Default Paint To Sample 996s ?

Just out of curiosity, are there many Paint To Sample 996 cars out there? I just don't think I've seen many at all in the 996 generation of 911. It seems that there are a lot more in the 997 group.

There's a very light yellow Boxster (with matching hardtop) around Birmingham. Was just talking about it with the service folks at the dealership and we all agreed it's a completely unbearable color. It was a custom color.

Some people.

No 996s around that are paint to sample though.

It just seems like an option that:

1 Is really expensive
2 Ends badly
3 potentially dimishes value
4 and adds no value (unless you find your style twin)

I saw a 996 at the dealer in Boulder that was a paint to sample car for someone who was cut before he made the team (Miami Dolphins). The exterior was orange and the interior was that nasty green of that 996 Turbo that appears for sale from time to time. I watched the price drop as it sat on the lot, but just couldn't do it.

It makes me really sad to know that 7-8 cows had to die to make that awful green interior

I just happened to see what I think had to be a paint per sample 996 in town a few days ago. It was a 996 coupe in a pastel yellow. I am a big fan of the retro colors like Gulf Blue, Mexico Blue, and of course Turquoise (Edgy01). I really liked this light yellow too.

They were the rare Nephrite cows - fortunately, they're extinct.

My friends shop just repainted this GT from Gray to GT3 RS orange for the owner. I think it looks awesome.

I prefer the orange color too, but I do wonder if the re-spray impacts resale value.

This thread is essentially reinforcing what I have been observing. Very few PTS 996 cars. After a slow start, the 997s are starting to come out in a lot of PTS colors. Perhaps it was the economy and the demand to be a conformist during the 1999 to 2004 days! Any color, so long as it's silver (and with black interior!)

I dont think the owner cares because this cost a lot to paint.. Everything was removed.. Apparently there is one out there that was a paint to order. Check it out (and the sale price). http://www.allmotorsales.com/bobporsche.html

(ps) sorry to highjack this tread..
