Default Car is back on the road. Although, i'm no where near it

texted my mechanic yesterday and he said that the car is done and he test drove it. Good to hear. I asked about the IMS bearing that was taken out and he said that the one in the car was in great condition so that's good to hear.

I'll be back driving it around in a couple of weeks since i'm away on business.

Good for you. Exactly what was the problem that was causing the leak?

the leak at the IMS? no, it was the RMS seal. But that wasn't the reason the engine was out. The valve seat broke apart and took a tumble ride in the combustion chamber, so I got the head polished ported with all new seats, an X51 oil pan, IMS tensioner paddles (2 plastic guides were showing signs of wear), new AOS, new water pump, new coolant hoses; basically anything that remotely looked like it would be a pain to get to.

And while the thing was apart, I did the IMS retrofit. Stitch in time, saves nine, or $20K.

Motherf#$%er

So, what causes an valve seat to break? The real root cause?

from what I understand, age. Car has 90k miles on it and it also seems like an area of weakness. They just did a boxster with the same issue the week before.
