Default Any feedback on Barrier Motors in WA?

Looking at a 04 C4S Cab there that I think is seriously overpriced. It has the X51 option, but Barrier is asking for $54K. Not that I am going to pay that much!

Anyone have any experience dealing with Barrier? How flexible are they on price? Anyone live\work close to Barrier willing to take a look at it? I'd be eternally grateful!!!

Link for those interested: 04 C4S Cab

Thanks Ed. If possible, could you check out the car? I've been told it's in excellent condition - just want to verify it before coming down. Getting off the island is pretty time consuming, so I want to make sure that I dont make a 4 hour journey for nothing.

BTW, do you know any good car audio shops around Seattle?

Rajesh

Can you expand on that? Send me a PM if you don't want to post it in a public forum.

I saw the red one about a month ago. I was there looking at an 02 with the X51 package. They seemed like nice guys but weren't willing to move on the price. If Ed doesn't have time to look at the red one then I can do it tomorrow. I will be in Bellevue at our datacenter with my camera. It's near there. I could take some pictures if they will let me. I think the X51 package was a pretty spendy option so that is probably how they are getting that price but I would agree that it's way too much for that car. Just noticed they have a regular 01 996 priced at 40k. Maybe they are selling to Canadian customers who are willing to pay the markup?

I stopped by and looked at the car. The salesman asked if I was looking at it for you and I said yes. We had some dialog and he gave me the keys. I spent quite a bit of time with the car.

What type of info are you looking for, how detailed are you and why would you hammer them on a price before deciding if you even want or like the car.... is it price you are after or a good car....(sorry I am also selling my car and I asked a potential buyer the same question.) If the car is right and the price is wrong, you can usually make the price work, and if the price is right and the car is wrong.... you are wasting time. Your initial comment of "seriously overpriced" sort of sets the tone....why do you feel that way?

Sorry for the questions.
Also if anyone else wants to look at the car I would love to compare notes as a way of knowing if my opinion is worth a sh^t or not

sorry I think I need a beer (or 2)
PM me your email and I will let you know what I think of the car, but please think about what I am asking here

Ed - good questions and let me answer them the best that I can.

I'm looking for information on the general condition of the car; also your driving impressions. I'm fairly meticulous about my cars and (these days) tend to keep my cars for a fairly long time. As for what I want, it is both a good car at a good price. I understand that the dealer also needs to make a profit, but I thought the pricing was pretty seriously overpriced - I was told $54K non-CPO, if I wanted CPO, it would be $5K more. What would you folks think?

When I started to look at this car, I told the salesman that I thought it was overpriced given that 04's were selling in the high 30's - low 40's range. I understood that it came with the X51 package, and that I would make an allowance for that. I also told him that I would come down to check the car and put a deposit if we could come to some sort of agreement on the price (if we were within a few $$'s) prior to my arrival. Since I live in Victoria and it would take me between 4 - 5 hours to get to Barrier, I didn't want to waste my time as well as his if we could not be close.

I think I've been pretty upfront with the salesman and have told him what exactly my buying process was. It may be different than most, but given my specific conditions, it's what works for me.

BTW, I am quite happy with the service that the salesman has provided so far - we may not reach an agreement on the car, but he has been nothing but helpful.

Hopefully, I've answered your questions.

I'll also PM you my email address. Thanks for taking the time to have a look - I really appreciate you doing that!

Regards,
Rajesh

Ed, you were supposed to wait for me so I could go check it out with you!

I dealt with Stephen down in Barrier. Seemed like a pretty laid back guy. Let me take a car out on my own for 30 min without thinking twice about it and he's done this for me twice now. Another guy I saw there wouldn't let me test drive one of their beat up consignment cars. Stephen was also up front with the repairs done to the car even though he knew it had sold he still was kind enough to email me the details of the work they had done to it when they received it. I'm not sure how they are at the bargaining table though.

Nice cab.... 47k miles for $54k. X51 is a lot of money.

How about a turbo instead....
