Default PSE hack question

Does any one know the spec on the U pipe used for this hack?

I read that a 2" or 2.25" diameter SS pipe is needed but I need to know how long the leg part needs to be or the total length from the from the end of the leg to the bottom curve of the U.

thanks

my guess is about 7 inches long - no matter what length you buy, it has to be cut for the correct shape/length, so just buy a longer one -

or like me, get a 90 degree and a straight pipe - see pics

PS - Bigger = Better !!

I am almost sure that is the same piece others have used - if its too short, change the angle a little and it will be long enough.

who is doing the welding?
They may have some stuff laying on a shelf that will work. - If it is you, then just go for it, you can make it work. (or they can)

That ^ pipe should work. I think Darren Fister uses something very similar for his muffler mod.

If that pipe is a little "shorter" than Ed's pipes then the new pipe will simply enter the existing center pipe lower than on Ed's mufflers.

FYI... I have fabspeeds on now. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Sound great... not TOO loud but THE DRONE... Wife wont let me take the pcar on long trip b.c it drivers he nuts. They drone the most at 60-70 miles per hour which is how fast I typically drive - being the car is a tip there isnt much I can do.

If anyone has heard both pse hack and fabspeeds... please try to describe the difference.

thanks

well, I had fabspeeds for about a week +/- a few days and suffer a hearing loss from the drone (not really, but you know what I mean)

the hacked cans (3.6 cans - NOT 3.4) have ZERO drone on the freeway, in fact they are as silent as stock. Even at WOT they are subtle inside the car, but open the windows or be outside..... they have a nice growl !

have you seen my vid? I will post it up again. "Tunnel test" shows how they sound outside. When I took the vid I thought I needed to be in the tunnel to hear them because they are SO quiet inside... turns out they are not so quiet outside ! perfect combo (for me)

ivangene, is the video of the modded muffler or the fabspeed? what did it cost to have the mod done? also did you have to drill a hole in the back of the muffler and stick it in the muffler or just make the hole and weld at the base? thanks.

Base welded, the vid is of the cans shown above (PSE hack) -

I did it a little funny, bought a set of 3.6 cans of ebay for $125 (plus shipping), had a friend do the work for luch at a mexican place and 3 beers (each) - did the swap myself (free) and sold the 3.4's for close $100 (plus shipping) on ebay (dont recal actual price but it was close to $100... ) - took a long time, was a bit of work shipping/selling and junk, but for me the cost was the biggest hurtle so I worked hard to reduce that.

GL, hope you give it a go

This is the part number that I ordered from Burns Stainless, so looks like it's 6" long on each side of the U-bend pipe, not counting the bend.

304-UB-225-40-16UB-225-40-16-304 6x6 Legs
$56.00 + $12.26 shipping

so does doing the hack on the 3.4 mufflers different than doing it on the 3.6?
