Default Do I need an alignment after replacing steering tie rods?

The inner and outer tie rods? I haven't done it yet but wanted to know since I had to pay the dealer $265 for a 4 wheel alignment 2 weeks ago...

Yes -

in our area discount tire has a reputation for doing good street alignments on Porsche's for about $100.... as around, you might not have to hit the dealer

if you count the threads showing on the old ends and put the new ones on with the same you will be fine.
also you can measure the distance across the front & rear of the tires to get a pretty good estimate of toe setting. (this of course if you dont want to spend the $$$) your shop may recheck the toe for free?

Good to know. Coming from the 928 world are there any things a tech would need to know? Like on a 928 you can't lift it up or the supension must be pulled back down or driven awhile to settle back to normal ride height before the alignment or it will be totally out of spec.

you will only need a toe adjustment when you replace the tie rods, either do it yourself or call around, toe only should be cheap ~$40
