As others have said, alarm will not go off if just "keyed".
Don't know about what other alarms are out there.
I really depends how deep the sctrach is; the deeper them more difficult it is to remove. Buffing it out depends if there is enough paint, if not you need to paint it somehow, either touch up or sprayed or???

I have been lucky so far no one has messed with my car. Two friends have had their cars vandalized for no othe reason that they were "expensive" cars. My buddies Corvette was parked with out the t tops off (does not do that anymore) and someone dumped a milkshake on the passenger seat, cup and all. Huge mess. Nice.
My other friend had his Ferrari sctrached on the door, the whole length, luckly that came out with a bit of work.

People suck.

1. No
2. Yes, my old Viper alarm had a "proximity" sensor that when people got close to the car it would say "protected by Viper, stand back". But it got annoying where kids would purposely get near the car (not touch it) to trigger off the alarm and then wait for me to run out (I have a pager option also) to see who's screwing with the car. I've since mellowed out (relatively speaking) and had not had the need to have this type of system anymore.
3. Yes - but the time and cost may not be worth it to you. See #2 below

1. The paint comes off since you may have wax underneath it. Make sure you remove all traces of wax and even "alcohol rub" to take it out. Then you apply multiple coats of Dr. Colorchip. It works well. But you can still tell on close inspection that there's a scratch there.

2. I've seen REAL GOOD professional detailers fill in the scratch thickly with the standard paint. They let it dry and then WET SAND the area so that they are only sanding until the paint is even with the scratch. THEN, they paint over it with the clear coat paint and let it dry (which is now why I understand why BMW touch up paint kits always come with clearcoat). Then they wet sand it again... The results? There was no way in hell that I could tell that there was a scratch there...

Good luck and may whomever keyed your car suffer the same fate on THEIR own body to leave the same length of visible scar...

Because people who can justify spending stupid money on a car generally respect other people's cars.

It sucks but it happens. I found another door ding in my car two days ago. It happens and apparently no matter how annoyed you get it, still doesn't dissappear.

Untrue. You need to be so annoyed that your blinded by rage.

M3Armand, thanks for your tips. I hadn't thought of multiple applications using Dr. Colorchip. I'll try that next. I asked a local detailing shop who is very good and he said he has trouble with scratches as well. Langka has some tips for scratch repairs on their web site that involve using wet sand. That may come next if Dr. Colorchip doesn't work.

If you have Dr ColorChip already, forget the Langka - it's pretty much the same thing. The key is to remove all traces of wax before you put the first layer down.

Hey folks - sorry for the delay. So the detail guy came by on Monday and took one look/feel of the scratch and said that he wouldn't be able to get it out. So he referred me to a local body shop that specializes in high-end vehicles. Took the car there yesterday and got a quote of $750!!! Ouch! Is that "normal" in the Porsche world? The soonest I could get it in there is the 2nd week of November so I've got it booked.

Oh... and get what else this f***er did to my car which I didn't realize till later. He/she ripped half the rubber off my passenger side wiper. Needless to say I didn't notice this until Saturday night when it decides to rain. I turn on the wipers and s-c-r-a-t-c-h!!!! Now of course I have these miniscule semi-circle scratches on the passenger side of my windshield that although do not impair my vision any annoy the hell out of me because I know they're there! Arrrggghhh!!!!

$750 for any paint work seems about right IF done right... I would spend the time between now and then getting a second quote and asking what to look for in a repair so you know when it is done, that it was done right.

I went to a high end shop that did a great job but had/has a monkey on the buffer who swirled 1/2 my car - repeated attempts to get them to fix it have failed and I was stuck doing the detail myself. -
