Default 3.4-996 Wins NASA GTS3 Nationals....

Vali Predescu of So Cal won the GTS3 National Finals yesterday at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City. Vali qualified second behind a 3.6-996, but passed him halfway thru the race. The 996 Spec runs a stock motor & trans with a stock ECU. Here's the Spec for those interested:
http://996specracing.com/The_Spec.html

In the GTS3 class there were the 2 Porsche 996's, 6 M3's, 3 Mini Coopers, a 3.2-911, and a VW-GTI

Congratulatios to Vali and a great win for 996's over those pesky M3's....

Man I would love to get into spec 996 racing - just not in the card$ for me now. Spec e30 seems more plausible.
Congrats to Vali

You guys might be surprised at how reasonable (in Porsche dollars) the entry price is for a 996 Spec car. With donor cars in the low 20's to high teens, you can have a pretty badass race car for ~$40k, maybe less.

Yeah, well I said in Porsche dollars. And besides no one in their right mind adds up the cost of trailer, tow vehicle, tires, brakes, hotel rooms, compensatory kitchen remodel,...

What about modifications for the oil starvation issues? Wonder if how many people are having issues with it? Anyone know?

We have 4, 3.4 cars running out West. We're all using the X51 oil pan successfully to date. I've yet to see any pressure loss in turns but you never know. I will probably install a Accusump in the off-season...

Oh and I don't know if this is significant, but I use 15/50....

Funny... My car was compensation for a breast lift (for her, not me)... That's what they call a "win-win-win" situation... and I got it before she could change her mind (about the car...)

Regardless of what your car cost when you bought it, that was the deal of the century.

$35-40k is a reliable number (ex- trailer etc.).

only if you build it yourself.

a 40k turn key car build by a shop most like is a hack job.
