I'm with stuffing foam in the footwells and possibly pad the seats too, so they are flush with the hump. sounds like your best bet

If you put him 'flush with the hump, he might clutter your rear window view? Did you say that you had put the seat backs down already?

Dooooohhh! Just looked again and saw that you have a cab - disregard. With your top down having him flush with the hump could cause him to easily slide out of the car?!

BE careful about riding a bike with a dog on a leash. A good friend of ours (Brittany Spaniel trainers, field trials competitors, hunters over the dogs, etc.) had a Brittany Spaniel pup and was walking her on a leash while riding a bike. The dog somehow got one of it's legs thru the spokes and you can guess the rest. They were able to get her to a vet fast and MIRACULOUSLY the dog can walk now - you'd never even guess that she nearly had her leg completely cut off. The owners were crushed over this for a longtime.

A brisk run while on a leash and my on a bike pedaling as fast as I can for a few blocks and that $20 manacure is looking like pretty dumb idea!

Sad, puppies are unpredictable, my dogs run straight forward (except when there is a bush to pee on )

One of my Newfies (150lb) used to ride along in my MG. She'd lay right across both seats & on my lap. Needless to say, shifting was a challenge. They have been in my 996 & probably never will be. Way too much hair & slobber

Slide out? I'm not sure I get that.

I'm assuming that the OP is responsible enough to put a harness w/ seat belt clip on the dog.

Dillon is a cousin to Newfie's, not quite as big but same personality.....and slobber. But (I knew you could smell a big but coming) BUT he's my bud, he gets to ride. Now, how about some small bean bag chair thingies? Oh BTW, it's a coupe, should have bought a cab...the rear windows roll down and the removable hardtops are cheap, oh well

Bean bag? too soft and squishy.

why not build a little box for the footwells, that would come up close to flush w/ the seats?

I do have a hammock type of device that I used in my Mazdas. I can try to set up in the back of my car and see if it might work. The problem is that it is designed to use the headrests of both front and rear seats.

Don't the rear seat bottoms easily come out? Mine do and there is carpet under the seats. Just take the rear seats out and no worry about nail scratches or punctures when you hit the corner to fast.

Following this thread with great interest as I also have a 100 lb plus Great Pyrenees. So far I have opted not to tote her around so as to avoid white fur in my black interior and clogging up the ventilation! Totally understand the desire to keep the large, four legged friends close by, however...

Okay, think I will go with the foam. Put it on the floor and on the seats. Kind of a step up off the floor onto the seat area, Med tech suggests. I'll keep the seat backs up, otherwise he would be too high.

Yeah esq. Great dogs, huh? The hair thing will be a problem but I have decided to live with it. Dillon is a shedding machine and although I brush him about every other day, it doesn't seem to do that much good. I'll vacuum the inside out once a week, but, what the hay.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions....I now have direction (which isn't an easy thing for me!)

120LBS that's allot of dog, maybe you can teach your dog to drive and you sit in the back.. When I took Lizzy our GSD she was in the back and put down a sheet and couple sleeping pillows for the bump in the middle. She sheds like crazy and a vaccum would not get it out so I had to masking tape the whole back to get hair out. I think maybe having her wear a shirt or two to put on her to keep the hair to a minimum. I was worried about scratching the door sills when she got in was another problem still working on that one. One thing is she is the best alarm I have and did not need to lock the doors on pit stops.
