Default New snow shoes arrived today...

I know it isn't easy to think about snow here in the middle of an 85-degree August day, but now is the best time to buy them! It will only be about 8 - 10 weeks before I need to put them on.

I ended up buying a set of Blizzak LM-25 snow tires. They are being discontinued and replaced with the LM-60, so the prices are great right now. I put them on a dedicated set of Sport Techno replicas from Italy. They are 8x18 ET50 and 10x18 ET47 sizes, so no spacers are required.

The Sport Techno has always been one of my favorite wheels (we have them on the Cayenne too), and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they look on the C4S. I am also looking forward to seeing how the Blizzaks perform in the snow.

I have those tires in a 17" and give them a very good rating (having never ran any other tires in the snow)

Nice wheels, You are set !

Ed, I'm glad to hear that you like them. I seriously considered the Pirelli Snow Sport 240 N-spec snow tires, but they were twice the price!

I figure that with AWD and PSM, coupled with snow tires, I should be fine in all but the deep snow. On deep snow days, I'll take the Cayenne to work! Fortunately they are pretty good about plowing the roads here.

Wicked, I just worked a deal to get my new set for the winter, Michelin Pilot Sport Cups......

The reason I'm posting is because I left snow a long time ago. And I don't live in it anymore.... And I'm kinda a jerk. FYI.

I do like the Sport Technos. Lighter or heavier than turbo twists?

They are going to look good on your 4S.

I used Blizzaks last year on my C2 on 17" wheels and was very happy with them. Even went to the white mtns skiing several times without any issues. You'll love them on your C4.

I know the Sport Technos are hollow spoke, as opposed to the solid spoke Turbo Look II wheels that I have on now. I'm not sure how much (if any) this saves in weight.

This is actually the first set of true snow tires that I've ever purchased. I never needed them in Texas, and when the Cayenne was my DD I used all-season tires on it.

I have used the Blizzacks for several years with great results.

If the snow is fluffy and deep the 911 just packs it down and you can get over it till you get to the plowed roads. This is a fantastic car in the snow!!

Blizzaks pass the Minnesota winter test too! (Altough I really hate to be talking about snow tires already--it just warmed up here in MN)

Have been torn. Wanted to get a set of snows for my 996. Then decided that on snow days, I think I'd rather just put a pile of cinder blocks in the back of my Ford Ranger. Then if someone slams into the car--it will be the relatively disposable Ranger, not the 996.

Except that the 996 is such an incredible snow car, especially in C4 trim- just remember to turn off the PSM button if you want to have fun!

Along with the snow benefit, Blizzaks have a very comfortable ride at low (MN) temperatures. Have to admit I try to leave it in on the days they spread salt . . .

Where did you get the deal on the tires?
