Hi Sheatley,

Yep. I was leaving it in auto and just going to work and back. Then I went away on a trip so I hadn't, (until last night), taken it on a 'drive'. I'd used the Tip before but not much.

Anyway, I was flying around the back roads last night and basically fell in love. I find if I shift around 5,000 it has plenty of poke and I don't bring too much attention to myself.

This morning was beautiful so I went out early, took all back roads to work, (no freeway), and had a BLAST! Takes me longer that way but I was grinning from ear to ear by the time I got to the office.

I take back my sluggish comment. It wasn't the car, it was me driving like a granny. My (relatively) heavily modded M3 is more ballistic and my old Z8 was more in your face, but this P-Car, (see I'm learning), is so much more involved.

Anyone else take a different route to work because of the car? I'm guessing you all do!

this is classic - when I get to work I have a huge grin, it still goes away after a while, but comes back at the end of the day. I often think... some of these people didn "grin" once today.... and feel sorry for them

my commute is freeway - there are really no realistic alternatives, the differance is I can get on it getting on, and come off hard and fast... while just rolling down the road, I drive spot on the speed limit. maybe a "burst" or two just to push the pedal for a few seconds

+ like ALOT !!!!
this makes the public road driving a lot less damgerous too. I seem to "get it out" then drive much slower on the roads

Almost every day, especially driving home after work. I have one stretch of road with several nice curves and elevation changes. That's a rarity in northern Indiana, so I enjoy every minute of it!

Sorry to bump my own thread back up but...

Talking of aberectomies etc, I notice that the early 996's don't have any decal on the back of the car. I really like the Carrera emblem on the back. Is is acceptable to add it or is that cheesy/cheating?

Oh! Mine must have fallen off!

Is the hump the same? Can I get the later Carrera decal and it will fit?

I think you should order a silver one. I like it better than the black one, even on a silver car.

Thanks! I bought it from a mate who was moving back to England.

He asked me to sell it for him, so playing along, I asked him what was the absolute lowest amount he would take for it. He stupidly told me so I gave him a check the next day! He still hasn't forgiven me.

As for the exhaust it is a custom fab and has just two pipes. Still looks neat though.

It might not have fallen off. It could have been ordered from the factory with it deleted. If you read some of the posts, you'll see there is much debate on whether the car looks better with it on or off, and if on, where exactly it should be placed, and then, which color (silver, black, or painted) to even go for. Oh brother, I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
