This started because VW was in financial trouble and no one in Germany wanted a forgien company to come in and take over VW. Mercedes had its troubles with Chrysler, BMW had no interest so Porsche stepped up and bought enough stock to keep any others away on the guise of protecting their parts supply......and then it went terribly wrong based on greed, family and imperialism(maybe out of order but you get the picture).

Now we can look forward to the return of the 917 with a Bugatti motor in it and Mr. Piech can take his place as the head of Porsche Motorsport again to dominate the world racing stage...or maybe not, but it sounds good?
