Default Squeaky Shifter?

I notice that when I shift, I can hear a squeaking. I don't know if it's actually the shifter or the linkages, but I figure I'll ask here before I start tearing things apart.

Any ideas? Car only has 14,700 miles on it.

Could it be the clutch assist spring mechanism?

It doesn't do it when I depress the clutch, only when I move the shifter...

I would check under the console... last thing you need is a broken link and be stranded somewhere.... is it stock?

Yes, it's completely stock. It sounds like the linkages just need to be lubricated a bit.

How do I remove the center console to look at the linkages?

Ok, can you elaborate more on this?

I notice that right when I start to depress the clutch I hear a squeak. Also, the shifter only squeaks when you move it forward, not backwards. So it will squeak going into 1st gear but not second.

Any ideas?

Crawl under the steering wheel and look at the top of the clutch lever. Spray anything that looks like it squeaks.

It's really easy to see what's squeaking once you're under there, I had to do it too. Can't help on the linkages though.
