Hello all,
1. I just learned that I have no cup holders, at least, I can't find any in the car. Can anyone recommend some functional, non-ugly cup holders? I have the two open slots below my radio (no disc holders), so I imagine something may be made to be inserted there? I have attached a pic of my slots under the radio.
2. Those of you with black cars, how do you wash the exterior so that there are no streaks? Even if I dry it with a leather chamios, or a lint free microfiber towel, it still leaves noticeable streaks and spots. If I take out my old T-shirt that I use to take off car wax, and use the T-shirt to wipe/rub down the paint, then the streaks go away. I don't plan on waxing my car everytime I simply wash it, so wondering what techniques there are out there to get rid of the streaks after washing?
3. Any recommendations for cleaning the wheels after a drive. I don't need to wash the whole car everytime I drive it, but I do like to wipe down the wheels so that the break dust does not bake into the wheel finish. I have Champion-like rims; chrome lips and chrome deep dish with silver inner-wheel portion. I attach a picture of the rims.
4. What percentage decrease in power do you experience (subjective question) when you turn on the A/C?
Thanks,
Todd

Nice looking car - I think the wheels are really nice.
Cup holders... what I can tell you is that even the cup holders that were added in 2001 and revised in 2002 aren't exactly wonderful. I suppose that in theory, you could move the climate controls down to one of the open slots, and put the 2001 model cup holders in the slot above the radio, but I really don't think it's worth it. If you search you will find some options that go on the floor that some people like. I've gotten to the point where I rarely take a drink in the car, except on long drives. I wait until I get to the office to have my coffee!
Washing a dark colored car can be difficult. For mine, I always make sure to wash it in the shade. I use something called a "California Jelly Blade" first to remove large amounts of water, followed by drying with microfiber towels. Once the car is dry, I use a Meguiar's product called Quick Detailer, and then buff that off with a clean microfiber towel. This combination is very fast, and it doesn't leave any streaks or hard water stains. It only works well if you have a nice coat of wax on the vehicle already, but it sound like you do.
As for the wheels - perhaps others can help. I just clean mine when I wash the car every weekend.

Forgot the A/C question - not sure there. I don't really notice the difference.

Do the GT3 console delete and get rid of those cubbys. Drink the coffee before you get in the car. Don't worry about the car getting dirty because the bugs splatter messy at high speeds.
Oh and nice car.

Nice looking C2. The black exterior is a blessing(when it's clean and freshly detailed) and a curse(the day after it's clean and detailed). I'd say it is the toughest color to maintain, but even slightly dirty, I always get positive comments. Forget the cupholders, who needs them? Lots of brake dust with stock pads anyway...clean your wheels when you wash your car. Stop cleaning and worrying about it and go drive your Porsche!!

check your fan fluid - your HVAC control says its "LO" -
Get turbo wheels - easy to clean, I can send a shipping address for your "difficult to clean" wheels
Next time, get a grey car
The dash is almost flat enough if you get a wide based cup with rubber bottom - the coffee wont go far
Nice looking car, and you know I am joking
Redridge is spot on.... +1 for his suggestions
OH one more thing, turn your ciggy lighter right side up so the smoke doesnt go "DOWN" in your car and cause "ISSUES"

I also use the Ultimate Cupholder, installed on the passenger side. Have used it for many years.
As for drying streaks, I use an "absorber" synthetic chamois followed by a Big Blue Microfiber towel.
Wheels: good luck with that..... you might try some low dust brake pads, (I have Hawk HPS, which dust very little, but their cold bite is not nearly as good as stock pads, imho.)
A/C power loss: Not really noticeable. The ECU adjusts idle somewhat that helps starting off in first gear. My car actually pulls away from a stop better with the A/C on than with it off.
Nice looking aero.
Welcome to the club.

I guess Porsche just wants you to use the cupholders when you're sitting in a parked car anyway. Who would possibly want to drive while enjoying a beverage?
From the owner's manual:
Cupholder (holder for drinks cans and cups)
Keep the cupholder closed while driving.
Warning!
Risk of scalding or damage due to spilling drinks.
-Only use containers which fit.
-Never put overfull containers in the cup holder.
-Never use hot drinks.

Thanks all. I'll try the California Jelly Blade and the Detailers Spray. That should do it.
As for the cupholder, not sure here yet. I do enjoy a Water Ice every once in a while while motoring around town! I'm not always in 100% drive aggressive mode. I see the MKII retro-fits on Ebay, but for $200 - for a cupholder? Come on! I'll have to see the www.cupholders.com in person first.
Best,

I don't have answers to your questions, but just wanted to say that your car is AWESOME (my 2000 C2 supposedly came with some sort of cupholders that clipped onto the doors, but they've been lost, evidently).
Gorgeous wheels!
Black cars need detailing about every 48 hours, but when they're spotless they're stunning. Congrats.
