About 3 days ago, my car stopped locking/unlocking with the button on the key... the red light on the key still flashes nice and bright.
So I've had to lock the car with the key in the door handle - how 20th-century.
Think it's just the key's battery? Or some greater electrical gremlin?

Does your second key fob work? You may need to do a soft reset of the fob (install battery reverse polarity for 10 seconds, then reinstall correctly). If that doesn't do it the key may need to be reprogrammed with PIWIS or PST2.

When I get home I'll try the 2nd key fob.
I'll try the reverse battery thing, too.
And, if I need, I assume Durametric can do the key reprogramming? (But isn't that for just the immobilizer?)

Make sure the remote and interior alarm dash light work properly.
1. If the LED on the hand−held transmitter stays dark when the transmitter is operated, this is an
indication of either an empty battery or a faulty hand−held transmitter.
2. Radio transmission is OK if the LED on the transmitter flashes when the transmitter is operated and
the alarm readiness lamp on the dashboard flashes rapidly.
