Question C4S stock exhaust tips: stainless? clearcoated?

The exhaust tips are shiny, unlike the matte finish on the tips on my old car. Mine are crudded up with tar and other stuff, and I'm wondering whether to treat them as painted metal (claybar, bug and tar remover) or as bare stainless (mag wheel compound)?

Also, the black paint inside is chipped and peeling in a couple of spots. Thinking about touching up with flat black exhaust paint. Anyone done this?

I've always used chrome polish on my C4S tips with good results. I also painted the interior with high-heat flat black engine enamel and they look spectacular.

Thanks. As soon as my Fisters show up I'll take everything apart and do some polishing.

I doubt they are cleared, but I treat them like a painted surface. I hit them with a soft soapy sponge during my standard wash. The interior of my MY04 C4S w/ PSE tips were painted matte black when I bought it; I have to assume that's factory.

They're SS onthe exterior for sure, use whatever you want for SS. I can't be sure about the inside, but I've never seen one with rust.
