Default B&M short shift install

Had a few hours this weekend to work on my list of car mods, so I tackled the short shift install. I've got to say, the instruction manual from B&M was great. They detailed everything from start to finish. Took about 1 1/2 hours to complete the install. Most of the time was spent taking apart the plastic pieces - hearing the "pop" of the plastic connectors is a little scary at first. Fortunately, no damaged or broken pieces. I really like the crisp feel of the shifting. Looking forward to trying it on the track.

Because everything went so smoothly & I still had some time left I also completed:
- BK fire extinguisher seat bracket install
- Replaced the headlight wash nozzle
- Hard wired my V1 radar detector

It's not very difficult & like I said the directions are great. Just make sure you note what screw goes where. I taped them to the pages/steps as they were removed. Makes the re-install quicker & easier.

marc, it only takes about 1.5 hours.

On second thought, maybe you should plan on 2.5 hours!

I tried a friend's '07 Mustang Cobra w/ newly installed short shifter. The shift throw was so short I couldn't tell what gear I was in! Hope the 996 version isn't as close!?

Let me know how it is Marc (if you ever get around to it)!

Did mine a month ago and love it. Mine took about 2 1/2 hours but I went slowly, not wanting to screw anything up. I can recommend this swap, along with the muffler mod, highly, and one of the best inexpensive things I have done to the car.

Awesome thanks! Just gotta make sure the broke part on mine isn't needed with the new one. I have some white plastic pieces down in the shifter that are broken off from somewhere.

I am 99.99% positive that the white parts will NOT be needed for the B&M to be installed.

Rog, first, you do NOT want to add a SSK to a GT3. Second, the one in the link is the undercar type, you don't want that either.
