Thanks for the kind words, I'm pretty freaking excited! The time away is all worth it if you get to come home to a 996 =)
I understand the availabiliy of 996's are more prevalent than that of it's older, air-cooled brethren, I guess I was just wondering if this was the lowest we'll see the 996 market subside or if it will continue to do so into the near future. Either way, it's happening!
Your cab is really gorgeous, and I also like the wheels, but your asking price is a bit above what I'm looking to spend, and "the one" will be either white, black, or red...but with that mileage it's a good price!

I stopped thinking or being concerned about the whole thing. I've decided no one is gonna take advantage and rob me of my car, so I'm keeping it.
People in general, control most of all situations. The more we all talk about how bad the prices have dropped, the more it bugs us and it sticks in our heads. So when some of us have to sell our 996's, we automatically think that they are not worth that much anymore, and every seller among us starts off asking at a slightly lower price....and it's all a chain reaction. Buyers keep pushing, sellers keep backing......
We should all go on a major strike! No more 996's for sale!!!

Something about a black/black cab six speed sets it apart. Not sure if what I'll end up going for, as black cars have always been the hardest to keep clean-looking, in my experience...and they say everything is bigger in Texas...especially the BUGS!
How has the Savanna interior treated you?

I have owned a lot of black cars. I dropped my black 996 off for warranty work yesterday and am driving a black Audi A8 as a loaner (beautiful interior btw, cinnamon leather/ black carpeting/dash and wood/aluminum, ridiculously plush). There's a black benz in the garage as well. Black cars find me!
If you're obsessive compulsive like myself, you will need to add a detailing products line item to your tax returns, and budget plenty of time to wash and dry. Otherwise they are gorgeous, age very well, and are never as dirty as you think they are!
Prices are lowest in the winters in a standard year, and in real production models like the modern 911s, prices only go down as a general trend before finding some sort of bottom, where sellers feel as cosmos expressed above, that anything lower would be an affront to their emotional investment in the vehicle. Things moved down a lot faster in the past 12 months due to distress, both distressed sellers whose employment , income, or credit was impacted by the crunch thereby necessitating a sale or trade at any price, and distressed dealers who couldn't afford to keep the cars on the lots for so long. Much of that seems to have eased, but the general trend is downward. Even at 20% higher prices, these cars are a steal, so don't worry, either way you'll get the car you want for money you'll feel was well spent.

I have been happy with it, My seats have not seen ANY wear as they are in the garage (I have black GT3 style seats) - I am working on a black steering wheel set up, mine is fine, but I want a 3 spoke and black is easier to find..and if I stumble on some black mats for the floors I will be done... the other savanna parts dont see much wear so for me its a good combination....

haha, find a high-school hom ec class and get them to do it for free!
That's another reason I really want an '02, I believe the three spoke wheel came standard in all models that year, correct? That steering wheel, every time I slide into the drivers seat, just looks like it would smile at me and say "You Ready?"

Thank you for your service, it will be a very nice reward to yourself, and God knows you deserve it. I can tell you for a fact that you will love this car. Prices may continue to come down; however, the question is how much. When you get back, find that special car and enjoy the heck out of it. Life is good.
