I've noticed that the fans in the front of my car have been coming on sooner and more frequently (sometimes within a minute or so of starting the car). I haven't noticed any difference in engine operating temps or performance and the engine compartment cooing fan isn't engaging any more frequently. Is it possible these are tied to the AC system? It definitely has been hot here recently and the AC system is working hard from start-up, although I can't say I recall the fans kicking in so quickly in previous summers.
They're pretty loud too. I know I also hear my car turning the engine fan on once parked in the garage after going for a long drive on a hot day.
That's your engine compartment fan after car is shut off. Radiator fans are inoperatable with engine off. Engine fan should not come on too frequently, even in Charlotte.
Thanks for the responses - as always, great info here on this board. I thought they were tied to the AC, but it seems like they're coming on sooner and more often than they have in previous summers. I'll just chalk that up to my declining memory due to advancing age!
