Tommy,

I have a 1999 C2, LSD with a 3.6 motor. I don't usually do the drag thing just went out to keep some folks company and ended up taking three passes. Had 315 Hoosiers on the back. They bite... too much in my case on my last run.

What was your speed at the end of the quarter? I think mine was 115 or so.

996s were fast for their era. Now coming up on 10 years old, lots of cars have way more horsepower and faster 0-60 and trap speeds.

The 996 is still a great car for road or the track, but to keep ahead of the "economy car" curve you still need to drop money into it.

The days of 300 HP being a lot have started to slip away.

Tommy - this is a fun place with mostly hard-working and hard-playing adults, best if one works on witty and cerebral comebacks, not 'cheesey-easy' ones.

How do you think that makes folks in Wisconsin feel man!?

BTW: Is a cheesehead better than being a 'cornhead'???

Only if you serve it with Corn Nuts.

Cory,

Your 1/4 mile speed is sky high, so you must really be having traction problems. I think you make it all back in the last have. What is your 1/8 speed? I was at 92.

With grippy tires and a good launch I think you would kill it !

No traction problems, just almost no boost in first and second with a 7:1 or lower compression engine doesnt make for much of any torque.

3rd, well thats a whole different story! I think I did 92 also, that is about when I hit the top of 2nd or bottom of 3rd.

The problem resides in my full T-60 compressor/0.85 A/R turbo. It is way too big for my tiny 3.3L motor!

I would like to run a smaller A/R but keep the T-60 compressor wheel for those huge peaky hp numbers but hopefully gain some boost lower than 5500RPM in 1st..

No slicks, not needed as I said to Paul.

I should get the low-end built in July but the top end, I wont have the money yet, too much going on.....

That's true but with any Porsche you have the reputation of being a fast car. My 944 only had 208 horsepower but due to the name on the back everyone believed it was a supercar. Only those who really know the brand knew otherwise.

As for the days of a 300 HP car slipping away - well that probably was the case but I think the environmental movement will probably put a cap on the majority of high horsepower cars so 300 horses will still be enough to be competitive on the streets.
