Default Sparco race seats in a 996

So who has mounted Sparco race seats in their 99-01 996? How do you handle the receiver for the 3 point seat belts. I want the ability to use the the 6-point harness for the track and the stock 3-point belt for the street.

Most people i've seen leave the receiver on the outside of the seat. At the receiver side, you can go through the seat lap belt hole, or over the side bolster. Over the side bolster is much easier, but leaves a bit of slack in the line. Below shows through the lap belt.
I run a 6pt on the street however.

The issue is the receiver bolts directly to the seat. So Once the stock seat is out, the mounting place for the receiver is gone. So when the Sparco seat on rails goes in there is no accommodations for mounting the receiver. I know I need to buy something, I just want to make sure I buy the correct item. I have a track day in one week. Thanks

Do you have a photo? I can't visualize what the rear inside seat bracket bolt location is. Thanks

Hi Brian,

You have several options for using your stock seat belt receptacle. I have both a Boxster and a 996 that I have installed Sparco 2000 and Sparco Pro ADV's in, so there are ways to do it.

One easy way to do it is to mount your Sparco seats to a Sparco slider system. The base plate from Sparco for the 986/96 has a provision for the seat belt receptacle to mount to.

Here is a picture of a sparco seat mounted to a base from Sparco with this tab. This seat is a passenger side base. There is a separate one for the driver side.

Another way to do it is to get side mounts that have the provision for the seat belt receptacle. For DE days with our 996 I installed Sparco 2000's in the car using the Brey Krause side mounts. These side mounts have a threaded hole on the inboard mount for the driver and passenger seats that accepts the stock Porsche bolt. This allows you to mount the receptacle easily. Another added bonus is that the Brey Krause mounts can be used with the BK sub harness bar and also there is a fire extinguisher mount as well. It works well if you don't want to drill into the car.

Here is what they look like.

As far as threading the belts, I run the belts through the upper opening and through the outboard seat opening. I run the male end of the latch over the top of the seat into the receptacle. I find trying to run the belt through the inboard seat hole is too hard to do.

One thing I should mention is the BK side brackets raise the seat itself a tad higher than the Sparco slider system. I'm not sure if you have manual or power seats but in my car the power seat rails and system have the seat much closer to the floorboards than the BK or Sparco sidemounts. You can also mount most Sparco seats directly from the bottom of the seat to the slider system if you need the extra headroom.

Here's a pic of the belt threaded in the driver's seat.

Is there a mount available for a stock seat that will lower it some? At 6'3" my helmet hits the roof liner unless I recline the seat so far back I am in danger of falling asleep.

Thanks Bill. That is exactly what I was looking for. I have a Pro 2000 and an Evo 2. On both seats I have BK side plates and Sparco sliders that were used in my 944T, though the plates do not have a provision for the receiver. So I guess the easiest and most affordable way would be to used the Sparco base.
