Is it a DIY job to paint 03 C2 calipers? My calipers are black with white porsche lettering. I'd like to paint them yellow. I know it takes special high temperature gloss paint. Has anyone did this themself? Any tips?
What color is your car? I suspect you'll find more information herein if you do a thorough search. But why yellow? I would think that such a light color would show dust a lot more than the friendly black ones.
The car is black with black rims. Black interior with yellow seatbelts. I thought it would be a nice match to the seat belts and would lighten up the darkness of the wheels.
That is more work because you have to bleed the brakes if you remove them completely, so I left the calipers in place and painted them.
Tim,
Okay, I see... I heard that brake fluid flushes should be done pretty frequently which worried me enough to pickup one of those pressurized brake fluid pumps. I suppose when I get to this mod (they're black now, but I do like the red) I'll remove them rather than get red paint all over my wheel wells... My ham hands have all the dexterity and finesse of a boxing glove...
I did mine about 10 months ago and I think they've held up nicely. You may have trouble with the decals though. Porsche has asked Xenonmods to stop making the Porsche script.
I agree Rudy, thats one of the things I have never liked about this mod. Dont get me wrong, I love the looks and many people have done really really nice jobs. It just bothers me that the whole caliper isn't painted AND the hardware sometimes is....
+1 for removal... the calipers come off in a snap, the line should not be a big deal.. how about the wires (I didn't see how those come off)
I took the calipers off for my suspension swap as I needed room and the lines were not long enough...
I'm going to redo mine this summer sometime and will remove them this time around. The brake fluid needs to be changed anyway. It will be a much simpler and thorough job with the calipers off the car. Also the car won't need to completely masked for the clear coat spray.
