Accidental gas pedal mod.....and I LOVE it!
I'm happy to report that I did a mod accidentally
I have a sticky or notchy gas pedal so I figured it needs some lube. I disassembled the whole gas pedal assembly (e-gas btw) and accidentally removed a c clip that adds friction to the pedal by design (only '03+ cars have it), I think. The result is silky smooth pedal.
See post #34 here
I always think my cluch friction point kinda shifts a little from time to time and sometimes I can't launch in 1st gear smoothly. With this mod, the gas pedal response is much smoother and much more responsive. I can launch the car and modulate the gas much better now. Finally feel my foot connects DIRECTLY to the engine. Never had that feeling before.

Check out post #5 in this thread. The '99 C4 owner had success by just cleaning the gas assembly.
I could be wrong but that's according to Porsche parts catalogue. One easy way to find out is use a small inspection mirror to check the underside of the pedal where the metal rod connects to the pedal. You should see a ball joint made up of three pieces of plastic grabbing the ball of the rod. The c clip is about 3/8" squeezing these pieces together (photo in a link provided in my original post). It's black on black so it may be hard to see but if you look carefully, you should see if it's there.

BTW, I suspect a lot owners don't even notice this "problem" since we just adapt to it subconsciously. It's similar to a worn out clutch. You don't think about it much until you try a new clutch and feel how light it should be.
One easy test is sit in the car with engine off. Reach down and use your right hand to press the gas pedal slowly, back up a bit and press and repeat. Does it move in steps or you can have infinite control of where you want it to be?
