from stock 4 piston relatively small calipers to GT3 6-piston monsters?
OH YES, there is a difference.
The GT3 pads are almost twice as big!

Did this get tested on a 996 C2 with the "street ABS" system? I don't know if the Koni cars had the motorsports ABS or not... but I know my C2 doesn't have it!

Sorry, my response was, to my fault, a bit flippent.
Correct, bigger is not always better. Yes, I have experience the "ice mode" on a boxster I raced....very unsettling until you get accustomed to the brake threshold point.
I will let Bill Rudtner field the ABS unit question as I do not remember what ABS unit is in the car now. I know the Motorsports unit failed after the first season I drove the car, 1/3 of which was with stock 996 brakes. At that point we installed a used stock 996 ABS unit (cheaper).
The other 2/3 were with a Brembo 4-Piston Big Brake kit and stock ABS unit and I was MUCH faster with this set up.
It is worth noting that the Koni car came with an ABS on/off switch.
So, after the upgrade to the GT3 brakes, it is even better. I have not raced them yet back to back but the new owner sure will and the reports are already excellent from the first couple of DE events in terms of braking distance reduction.
The weight difference for racing is not that much. In GTB1 with an X51 the car was 3100lb (with ballast) and an I-class 996 car is 3060. This also applies to the brake wear question.

Can you inform after all , what we need to do this conversion?
I have the front 996 GT3 calipers, rotors and pads.
So what I need to use this stuff in my 996 C2 2000?
Thanks

The kit was originally fabricated to allow the use of big brakes on the 996 type uprights staying within the rules of the GT-B1 class for PCA racing. The deal we made with the supplier is the calipers have to be bought new through them. The calipers come machined. the kit comes with the caliper mounting hardware and new calipers. This kit allows the use of Factory GT-3 350mm rotors or any similar aftermarket. p.m. me for any other information.

How about a version of this kit but for Turbo caliper and turbo rotors or gt3 rotors?
I don't think you would need to machine the calipers then, only need the bolts and the distance plate?
