Approaching 3 years of ownership with MY99 coupe, and finally had to replace the battery. I was having Blizzaks removed(yea, kind of late in the year) and new Sumitomos mounted and balanced... my car was driven off the lift and parked. I paid the bill , jumped in my Porsche and nothing! The battery was installed by the PO in 2003, so I really did well compared to some of the horror stories I've read on short battery life. I replaced it with an Interstate battery that was a perfect fit.Thought I'd share. Looking forward to some 'wet' driving all weekend with new sneakers and a fresh battery.![cherrsagai](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/drink.gif)

I've got 2 1/2 years on my battery and noticed it was really low on water so I filled it up. I was surprised it took almost 1/2 a gallon. I hope to get quite a bit more out of it.
Make sure to check your batteries, the OEM Porsche batteries are not maintenance free.

also make sure you lock the vehicle if you are keeping it in the garage for a few days. There is more parasitic power drain with it unlocked than with it locked and the alarm system armed.

I'm surprised it's lasted that long. Usually a drained battery is the kiss of death, since mine only last about 6mo after that happens.

Yes, and I would do it again.
This topic has been beaten to death but here is some of the best info you will find from another thread......Ok, it was my post so I might be a little biased but it doesn't make it any less true.
We were posting about Interstate batteries and someone recommended another model number that comes up for this car on the Interstate website (this model is the MTP-91 but it is NOT the direct replacement). Here was my response;
This is the same thing I discovered via the website. Totally prepared I walked in and said "I need the MTP-91". The guy looks at my $225 22 month old POS Porsche boat anchor and says "why do you want a physically different battery, the H7 is the IDENTICAL case, handles, and location of the vent tube connection whereas the -91 is not". I had him bring both to the front and sure enough, two different animals.
Don't pay any attention to the website. Go to your local Interstate location and put your dead one next to them and you will see. H7 is the one. I believe it has an 85 month warranty.
Most importantly...DO NOT BUY ANOTHER OEM BATTERY. Unless you want to join the scores of us who made that mistake. My original one died early and the replacement made it about 22 months and the dealers will not stand behind them. My local one even confessed that the OEM is crap. Should have just burned the $225 in the fireplace so I could have gotten some enjoyment out of it.
