Default CEL = Loose oil fill cap?

Ever hear of a CEL from a loose oil fill cap? I've an intermittant CEL for the past 5 months.

Any ideas?

I had the local P dealer bleed the brakes today and had them check out the CEL. I did change my oil yesterday but the light was on 5 days previous. Coulda swore I had the cap on tight.

loose oil cap will cause the engine to see a vacum leak, and run lean triggering the light. 100% plauasble and I see it often

and sometimes adaptation at rich limit, sometimes at lean limit.

Finally replaced MAF. Original MAF had way over 100,000 miles.

CEL came back on. MAF replaced for nothing.

Had engine running at idle and trunk open. Co-worker heard air leak -- I'm hard of hearing -- and wiggled cap. That was it. Cap *tight* but loose nonetheless and leaking.

At lunch raced to local Porsche dealer parts counter and replaced cap. Problem solved.

Side note: Replacement MAF finally started acting up. On a hunch dug up original old one and used it to replace the replacement MAF. This time MAF was the problem and the original MAF worked just fine and with just I don't know how many miles on it -- car has just over 219K miles -- original MAF still working just fine.

Sincerely,

Macster.

It happened to me once, the filler cap wasn't tight and triggered the warning.
