Newbie/Oldbie buys a 996 C4S and joins Rennlist
WWWWOOOOOWWWW!!! Holy Catsh!t Batman...whatta car!!!
Sorry guys, but I just got back from my initial drive, in my new car, and just had to get that out!!
Okay, let's back up....Hi, my name is Dana and I just purchased a 2003 996 C4S. It's the hard-to-find Artic Silver with black leather. It also has the painted center console and seat backs. It's a tiptronic and has 39,900 miles and I'm the 3rd owner (1st was a lease and 2nd a PCA member). Pretty much stock, but does have the 19" Champion RG5B's. It's truly clean, with only a blemish or two on the exterior, and the interior is flawless. No surprizes, yet...hope that remains.
I know you guys like pics, so here's one of the car being delivered...
Just a little history....I've owned a few Porsches, but it's been awhile. I was a PCA member back in the '80's. Got out of it for awhile (family/kids) and the itch came back in the early '90's and I bought my 2nd 928. Got involved in that community a good bit, but eventually sold the car and have been Porsche-less for about 8-9 years. I was on the old Porschefans/Porschelist, that eventually became Rennlist (still get the 928 digest) and I've been stalking you guys for a couple of months, as I began my search, for what I knew would be a new water-cooled 911. So, I've got my membership now and I'm sure the questions will be forthcoming, as get to know my new baby!
Here's some more pics...the weather here has been terrible, but these photos are from the previous owner, and only about 1 yr. old.
I know the "mod" list will begin now, so have at it!!! I will get the bumper plugs and probably have the rear bumperettes painted, initially. Thinking that rear "S" might look good in red. Where do you get those? Lowering it is something I'd to to do, but after reading 4,582 posts on the subject, I'm as confused as ever on the right/smart way to go. Oh, maybe a Navigavition/stereo thingy, too!
That's it for now...........please go easy on the new guy!

Great looking car,and the wheels are awsome. If you lower it the rear tires will wear quickly on the inside, my car had lowering springs when I bought it, I had them replaced with sport springs.

Congrats on getting the C4S! And thanks for posting the pics! It's a good thing you did, because "some" here would have given you a really hard time about that!
Mods???.... did someone say mods?
You already mentioned Bumper Plugs but make sure you also get the Key Plug.
You can also get the red "S" from Eric at BumperPlugs.com. Tell him Tim referred you.
You dash is crying for some Aluminum Gauge Rings to break up all that black.
Aluminum Pedals would also look good.
Again Congrats and Welcome to Rennlist!

Thanks Tim, I posted the pics so I wouldn't get that initial thrashing, by you!!
I agree on the Gauge rings...forgot to mention it. A couple of key accents on the interior will bring it out nicely. The painted console and seat backs are killer in this color combo.
Thanks for the lead on the red "S", also.
On to the aluminum pedals....any guys have 'em? How do they feel? Issues? Brand? Is it a simple install...reversible?
Thanks everyone, for the warm welcome....D

Hey Phil, thanks for the welcome. About the Tiptronic....the only real reason I got one, was because that 's what I wanted! :-) *Sorry, couldn't find the fancy smiley face?
