Default short shifter

I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times, but if you wanted to get a short shifter for a 2001 996, which of the following would you get (http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...ode=996Trans):

1. B&M short shifter
2. Porsche Factory Short Shift Kit
3. 997 Shift Console Upgrade

Thanks!

I have #1, but don't have anything to compare it to. I don't hear too much about #2, but have heard good things recently about the smoothness of #3. The only knock is the throw travel is longer than a short shifter, but still a little shorter than a stock 996.

maybe i'm throwing disinformation around, but i thought i had heard that B&M SS OEM provider of the Porsche SSK. So, in effect, #1 and #2 are the same.

I believe #1 and #2 were the same on the 996 but I recall reading that the 997 short shifter was different from the B&M shifter.

I, too, have #1 and it is supposed to be identical to #2. I've heard that #3 is smoother than #1/2 and most people switch ffrom #1/2 because it is too stiff. I love the B&M kit, the stock throws were so long and sloppy. It does take a few minutes for the car to warm up and the shifter to loosen.

1 & 2 are the same.

Get the B&M and save some $$$, best bang for your buck mod.

Best place to buy is:

I just installed #1 and think it is great. It took a few minutes to get user to the "stiffer" feel, but now that I am used to it...nice!
