Default Asheville mechanic?

Can anyone recommend a good Porsche mechanic (996, specifically) in Asheville, NC?

Thanks,

Highly recommend Scott Spence at German Motor Werks on Sweeten Creek Rd.

German Motor Werks

I've had my car in many times, and he's a generous sponsor for PorscheFest in Asheville this year. If you're a PCA member, he'll also provide a discount. He has good mechanics, and a spectacular shop with top equipment. Most of the local PCA members also use him.

Are you in TX or NC? Breakdown, moving, inquiring minds want to know!

Both, actually. We just bought a house in Asheville, but are also keeping our place in Texas. Thank you for the mechanic tip. I just added a 2002 C4 cab to the stable for mountain driving. I can't wait to get it there.

You won't be disappointed by the local driving, and your choice to add the C4 cab is perfect. PM me if you want me to share some great local roads!

So I guess if I come up behind him, or him me, I shouldn't try to race him

Speaking of local roads - here's an overview of one of the routes we're planning for PorscheFest on Memorial Day weekend. Lot's of smooth, twisty tarmac...

I will look for him. It sounds like he should be easy to spot, even if from behind - at a distance.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the C4. I have always driven 2's until now, but it seemed like the better choice, given my total lack of experience driving in snow. I have spent a lot of time in the area, but never in a "fun" car. I'm looking forward to it, and may well PM you for the local roads info once we get settled.

Just an FYI - if you're looking for snow, you came ot the wrong place! Unless you're living above 4.5k feet or so... I can count the number of "real" snowfalls on one hand in the past 4 years. It's so warm here in the winter, it's rare for snow to last more than a day or two.
