Default MA Shaw | 996 GT3 Tailbase with RS Top Wing

Alright, if the ducktail spoiler didn't get you excited, I hope this one does!

It is a 997 GT3 RS (996 tailbase with the RS top wing) spoiler designed to fit on 996 C2s.

Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of it installed on a car:

We've had several customers purchase this wing set up from us. So if any of you are on here, please take some pictures and post it on here, so we can add it to our picture collection/gallery!

Sorry for the small product pictures. If you guys have any specific requests, feel free to ask, and I will see what I can do for you.

Let me know if you have any questions, thoughts, or comments.

thanks.

Also just for reference purposes. We also produce the GT2 top wing for this tailbase. The top pieces are also available to be purchase separately, if you already have a tailbase or a GT3, and want to swap over to something else.

Nicer design than the ducktail but don't like the exposed hardware look...

Whats involved with the 'resetting' the computer? We're not talking about reflashing an Eprom right? What prevents a future failure code for the lack of auto spoiler function - a special electrial harness or loop to fool the car?

the fixed spoilers come with their own small wiring harness. when i ordered my taco wing from MA SHAW they included it in the kit so that the spoiler light didn't come on on my dash.

not sure if it is included with this wing, but it is a factory porsche part that a layperson can install in about 3 minutes without tools.

Doesn't sound too hard to do from the pictures on the site. So I would just need a friend with a one of those fancy units to clear the code after the harness is installed right? The thing that holds me back is the front spoiler would have to be replaced at the same time as there is no way I'm increacing rear downforce without the front lift being addressed and then I'm into getting the part primed and colour matched and everything. I think I'll wait for a whole kit including side skirts and do it all at once - have it painted by a pro. The rear and side skirts are easy DIY projects but I've been told that no front section made is a 'bolt on' without 'adjustments'.

That looks cool but are the front upper vents fuctioning and if so - where does the pressure end up? It looks a little 997'ish with those slots as well.

actually, that is a real mk1 gt3... Manthey Racing set this thing up. Those top slots are functional, the air comes from a 3rd center radiator and the air comes out of the 3 slots up top.... helps with cooling as well as dowforce.

But you dont need the slots, the bigger gt3 bumper and chin spoiler will help keep the car down up front if you decide to go with that MA Shaw wing.

Or the NASCAR option for more downforce - TAPE IT OVER!

MA Shaw can send u OEM polyeurethane side skirts as well (they have the best price i think too).

also check with TSP-Miami on rennlist. Theo used to live in toronto but can scrounge EXCELLENT pricing on the OEM parts..he's saved my *** a couple of times. Tell him Omar sent u.

Hi Don,

I have a few questions relating to the GT3RS wing, if you don't mind.

Will the wing allow the use of the OEM 4 and 8 degree shims?

Does the wing use metal mounting brackets to attach the wing to the supports similar to the OEM version?

Can you please describe the internal structure of the mounting area of your wing? The reason I'm asking is because on occasion the topic of replica wings come up on the GT3 forum and there is a big question about the reliability of these pieces. When you are driving 160mph on a track, you really want to know that the wing won't fly off and risk your life as well as others. At those speeds a sudden change in downforce can be deadly.

Considering the fact the OEM GT3RS wing is now $4495 at Suncoast and will only get higher over time (and the Manthey wing is $2800 + shipping from Germany), having a cheaper alternative is fantastic. The only question left is for folks to be able to count on the wing to stay on the car under extreme circumstances.

Thanks for your time.
