Default Is it correct to grease rubber sway bar bushings?

I tried some searches, but came up with nothing specific for rubber, only urethane. I put the new ARB bushings in dry, because it was pretty obvious the old ones were dry. However, the old ones pretty much had the paint worn off them from the rubber, and I haer a new noise, that sounds like it is the bushings. Grease can soften rubber, so I'm just fishing among the more experienced here. Normal? Grease? What kind? Thanks.
