Hi guys and gals.
getting familiar with my 2002 c4s ---- loads of fun. Best P-car I've ever had.
one fault comes on randomly. as i drive down a highway, the PSM/ABS warning lights come on. Once i turn the car off, it seems to reset.
Any suggestions? is it bothersome and i would like to clear it up before I get to Watkins Glen for 2 days.
thanks
roy

I had the same problem after I installed a K&N filter with a more efficient airbox, I have a 2001 C2 Triptonic with about 37000 miles. In both the Auto and manual modes the PSC and ABS both drop out during hard acceleration. My response at this point was to pull over and shut down; where both systems reset. I have talked to the local Porsche mechanics and their comment was that the PSC system is a big power draw on the electric systems and a place to start would be the alternator belt tightness or maybe a defective alternator. I checked that out with no go. One thought I had was that the ABS system is probably the initiator and without ABS signals PSC just throws a fault and shuts down.
The error codes from the computer were P1128 and P1130 both not specific to the mass airflow sensor. There are generic codes that should have shown up that are specific to the MAF. The simplist approach since everything was good before I installed the K&N, I decided to clean the MAF wire with Carb cleaner and a q-tip. It worked, don't know if this helps you but I thought i would offer my experience up as a another perspective. If you do not have a code reader I would suggest buying one. I got a simple reader off of e-bay for $30 and it came with a nice set of instructions.

thanks everyone for your help.
since the car passed NJ inspection, i think i will just live with it. it does reset everytime i shut the engine off, so it appears nothing permanent is going on.
probably a sensor somewhere.

Thanks for the advice. I am scheduled to get the car inspected next week before I go up to Watkins Glen. I'll have 'em clean the MAF and I report back.
Thanks, ALL
