Default Care for some Porsche Historic ****

Here is a link to Road Scholars. They recently bought a large collection of Porsches and have some amazing historic moments for sale

THIS CAR

Is a very early Porsche. We had discussions with a local shop who the owner is an avid early car enthusist. He has been asked to go look at this car as a possible purchse from a local collector near me. Production number is #22 and its amazing...

When I asked why these people are selling such a rare car, I was told, "because they also have #17"

There is something to think about ehh....
(WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE! $$$$$$$$)

Here is a chance to look at the beginings in beautiful full color pics - enjoy

Take a trip in the way-back machine......

Are those little pop-out flags the turn signals? A feature about 55 years ahead of it's time...

Great thread.

Have wanted to see some of the Gmund cars.

Is this car restored like ad says, has three # for chassis, motor, body?

Thanks for posting.

Regards,

Those are called semaphores.

Look like standard VW issue of that period, although they were mounted on the B-pillar on Bugs.

I am certainly no expert on these, the guy that owns my indy shop is really "out there" when it come to this type of info. He is regarded as some what of an expert on restoration, authenticity and history. When I listen to them "chit chat" I feel like an idiot... I keep my mouth close as as not to remove all doubt

he had a 52' Cab that just came up from Cali in the shop... (new local purchase) I mean it was BRAND NEW looking inside and out, not a spec of dust anywhere (and I looked) The new owner says he will drive it (sparingly) - I was afraid to touch it (and didnt) I said, that I would not want to own it for fear I would destroy it simply by "trying to take care of it"... Its a whole differant group of guys and thinking. They really know their stuff and know how to care for these things. My hats off to them !!

ps... if you think your car's parts are expensive..... stuff for these is like buying a new Lexus just for a box of stuff you found in some guys garage, One guy had some original Carrara wheels with the center knock offs and hubs there, just came in.... took over a year to restore and the owner said, " Those are REALLY expensive" I have no idea what that means, but thats the game these guys play

Cool Semaphores, just like my friends 52 Beetle.

This place is located a few miles from me, I'll have to check it out.

That color works for me! Also thought the semaphores were neat back when standard on the Beetles.
